From Earth Hour to Everyday Action: Robinsons Malls Drives Sustainability Forward

Robinsons Malls joins the global Earth Hour movement by switching off its lights and hosting special performances to celebrate a greener future.
As climate challenges continue to impact communities worldwide, Robinsons Malls strengthens its commitment to sustainability by integrating environmentally responsible practices into everyday mall experiences. As part of Robinsons Land Corporation’s (RLC) broader vision of building better lives, these initiatives go beyond infrastructure—creating spaces that support both people and the planet.
A key highlight of this commitment is its continued support of Earth Hour, a global movement initiated by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 2007. Earth Hour encourages individuals, businesses, and communities to switch off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbolic act of solidarity for the planet.

Join the switch this March 28 at Robinsons Malls for a fun-filled Earth Hour celebration.
On March 28, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Robinsons Malls nationwide will once again join millions around the world in dimming lights for the annual 60-minute switch-off, raising awareness for urgent climate action.
Beyond this symbolic gesture, Robinsons Malls advances sustainability year-round through mall initiatives, strategic partnerships, and community-driven programs. These efforts align with Robinsons Land’s broader push to decarbonize operations and strengthen environmental performance.
Among its most significant strides is its partnership with First Gen, which enables use of renewable geothermal energy to power key malls across the Visayas and Mindanao. Covering Robinsons Malls in Cebu, Antique, Roxas, Tacloban, Pagadian and Ormoc, alongside select properties of RL Commercial REIT and Robinsons Supermarket Corporation, the agreement supplies over 22 megawatts (MW) of clean energy from geothermal facilities in Leyte and North Cotabato. This initiative supports the Gokongwei Group’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050, while helping Robinsons Land manage energy needs more sustainably.
Complementing this are Robinsons Malls’ on-ground sustainability features, including solar panel installations, water recycling systems, solid waste management programs, e-Bike charging facilities, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and energy efficient-mall features.
Supporting the Shift to Clean Mobility
Robinsons Malls continues to expand its EV charging network in collaboration with partners such as ACMobility, Meralco, Shell Recharge, and Tesla. These efforts respond to the growing demand for cleaner transport solutions in the Philippines.

Expanding access to EV charging with partners across Robinsons Malls nationwide.
Further strengthening this effort, ACMobility will roll out a free public charging initiative from March 27 to 29, 2026 at all its stations. Currently available in Robinsons Malls Ilocos Norte, La Union, Tuguegarao, Iloilo, Roxas, Dumaguete, Antique, Iligan, and Pagadian, this initiative is strategically timed ahead of the Holy Week travel surge, providing immediate and practical support to Filipino motorists while encouraging EV adoption.
Complementing these efforts, Robinsons Malls also promotes greener public transport options. Through partnerships with services like Ube express across various Robinsons Malls, and most recently, RLC’s collaboration with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to reintroduce the iconic “Love Bus,” offering free rides from Robinsons Galleria to Eastwood City starting on first week of May. Together, these initiatives help reduce reliance on fossil fuels while improving commuter accessibility.
Encouraging Everyday Eco Habits

Join the Bag Habit and get rewarded!
To make sustainability more tangible for shoppers, Robinsons Malls is launching “The Bag Habit” promo in partnership with the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) starting March 28. Shoppers who bring reusable bags and present at least PHP 1,500 worth of receipts can receive a free PHP 50 Movieworld voucher. Promo is available in select malls.

Turn your empty bottles into rewards at Renew-a-Bottle machines across Robinsons Malls.
Further strengthening its push for everyday sustainable habits, Robinsons Malls integrates practical recycling solutions into the mall experience. Shoppers can conveniently recycle PET bottles through its Renew-a-Bottle machines located in select Robinsons Malls, with added incentives from participating tenants making the experience both easy and rewarding. Alongside this, designated e-waste collection points are available in Robinsons Magnolia, Galleria, Manila, Bacolod, Fuente, Dumaguete, Malolos, Roxas, Santiago, Iligan, and Gapan—providing a safe and accessible way for the public to dispose of old electronics responsibly and encouraging more mindful everyday habits.
Building a Culture of Sustainability
Through these initiatives, Robinsons Malls continues to foster a culture where sustainability becomes a part of its everyday operations. From energy conservation efforts to enabling green mobility, Robinsons Malls remains committed to creating spaces where both people and the planet can thrive.
This Earth Hour, Robinsons Malls invites everyone to go beyond switching off the lights and embrace everyday habits that contribute to a more sustainable future. For more information on Robinsons Malls, visit www.robinsonsmalls.com or follow Robinsons Malls on their official social media accounts.
